Gift Card Scam Alert

It recently has come to my attention that some parishioners have received text messages or emails from someone claiming to be me or a member of the parish staff, asking them to purchase gift cards and then asking them to disclose the information from the gift card.  This is a scam. No one from the parish would ever make such a request. The purpose of the scam is to obtain money through the gift cards, not to steal your personal information.  If you receive a message from me or any other member of the staff requesting something unusual, please contact the parish office to confirm that the request is legitimate.  Otherwise, please ignore the solicitation, as the authorities are already aware of the scam.  I apologize to those who have been contacted in this way. Thank you – Fr. John Connaughton
