The St. Cecilia-St. Gabriel bereavement ministry provides support for adults grieving the loss of a loved one. All meetings take place in a confidential small group setting in the Parish Center. The bereavement ministry is a faith-based program that seeks to provide a place where those suffering a loss can gain an understanding of the grief process, and have the opportunity to talk through their experiences with others who are also grieving. Doing so will assist the bereaved in working through their grief in a healthy way, as they make their journey towards healing so that they, once again, will be able to enjoy a happy life with memories of their loved one.
Our parish bereavement ministry is a free, structured, 9 – week program using the book, The New Day Journal – A Journey from Grief to Healing, by Mauryeen O’Brien. Trained facilitators, all of whom have experienced loss and healing in their lives, conduct the seminar. Each weekly session provides an opportunity for participants to listen and to share their experiences and to learn about the natural process of grief as well as the process of healing. It’s important for those who are going through these difficult experiences to know that they are not alone.
